Gov. John Kasich's would-be Republican challenger didn't last a week.

Ted Stevenot, the tea party leader who notified the media late on New Year's Day that he would formally announce his GOP gubernatorial primary challenge to Kasich on Tuesday, said late last night that he changed his mind and will not run. On Thursday night The Dispatch reported that Stevenot's running mate, Brenda Mack of Canfield, had about $60,000 in federal and state tax liens and had filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2008.
