Lucas County commissioners Tuesday designated $25,000 to help launch a program designed to improve the health and education outcomes for children.
The pledge was made to the Toledo Community Foundation for Aspire, a nonprofit agency that is focusing on communitywide efforts to help children from “cradle to career,” including an emphasis on preparing children for kindergarten and increasing high school graduation rates.
The program is modeled after an initiative in Cincinnati that began about 10 years ago.
