Tonight at 9 p.m. is the last opportunity to register to vote in the May 6 Ohio primary election.

Voters can register and then vote at their county board of elections office. In Lucas County, registration can be done either at the board office in Government Center or at the early voting center at 1946 N. 13th St., in the BTC Building just off Woodruff Avenue.

People can also register at other public locations, such as libraries, schools, and Lucas County Job and Family Services.

Today is also the last day of Golden Week - the five-day period in which people can register and then vote at the same time. However, early voting continues until May 3.

In Lucas County, voters are deciding partisan nominations in a smattering of races, such as the Republican nominations for state House of Representatives District 47, commissioner, auditor, domestic relations court, and Ohio 9th Congressional District. Democrats are vying for nominations for Lucas County common pleas and domestic relations courts, as well as for the statewide nomination for governor.

Also being decided is a special Toledo City Council election for District 2 in South Toledo, and a school levy question in Sylvania.

Outside of Lucas County contests are under way for Republican nominations for state Senate District 1 and House District 88 in Sandusky and Seneca counties. In Wood County, voters will decide a three-way race for Republican nomination for commissioner.
