Fulton, Hancock, Ottawa Cos. awarded neighborhood grants
8/28/2014Fulton, Hancock, and Ottawa are among area counties to receive grants from the Ohio Development Services Agency.
The state agency on Tuesday announced more than $9 million in grants, including $1.8 million to northwest Ohio communities. The grants are used for street, neighborhood, and business district improvements.
Each of the area communities received $300,000 grants.
Fulton County’s grant includes funding to install curb cuts in Wauseon’s central business district to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act as well as rehabilitate buildings.
Hancock County will use the money for street, sidewalk, park, and water improvements in Mt. Blanchard.
Ottawa County received money for a revitalization effort in downtown Port Clinton.
The project includes helping a dozen businesses with rehabilitation projects and street improvements.
The city of Defiance received funds for street work in the area around Ayresville Avenue.
Van Wert County will use the funds to rehabilitate buildings and improve streets in the city of Van Wert’s business district.
Williams County’s grant is directed at reconstructing First Street in Pioneer.
