DETROIT — Dan Gilbert has added two new buildings to his large portfolio of properties in downtown Detroit.
Mr. Gilbert’s Rock Ventures said Tuesday that it has bought a 1931, eight-story Albert Kahn-designed building at 1505 Woodward Ave. It also bought an 1897, six-story building at 1265 Griswold St. and once known as the Bamlet Building.
Rock Ventures says the purchases add 84,000 square feet to its holdings: about 40 properties with 8 million square feet of commercial and parking space in Detroit’s urban core.
Rock Ventures is an umbrella entity that also includes Quicken Loans, a leading residential mortgage lender.
