Snyder signs bill updating foreclosure sales law
5/20/2014LANSING, Mich. — Gov. Rick Snyder has signed a bill bringing Michigan’s foreclosure sales law in line with federal guidelines.
The legislation limits the number of indoor property inspections a purchaser can make in a given period and requires that a purchaser notify the resident who took out the previous mortgage 72 hours before an indoor inspection.
The outgoing residents have to tell purchasers when they will move out after the foreclosure sale.
The bill sponsored by Rep. Mike Callton of Nashville passed unanimously in the Senate and 107-3 in the House.
The Republican governor also signed bills streamlining preliminary hearings in district courts and altering delinquent tax payment options to counties for local taxing units and the state.
