CINCINNATI — A Cincinnati police officer has been arrested on six felony charges after being accused of receiving nude photographs of a 17-year-old girl, improperly using a city apartment and tampering with evidence.

The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office says the charges came today after the girl’s father complained about Officer Darrell Beavers.

The man’s daughter was in the department’s Police Explorer program for teens interested in becoming police officers.

Defense attorney Carl Lewis says Beavers maintains his innocence but declined to comment further.

Cincinnati police Sgt. Julian Johnson says Beavers is on unpaid leave and will be fired if convicted.

Beavers also is accused of using an apartment for free after saying it would be used as a police substation and destroying a cell phone.

He was released on his own recognizance.
