COLUMBUS — The Ohio Supreme Court has set an execution date for a Columbus man convicted in the execution-style murders of two men during a 1997 robbery that netted just $100.

The court today set the execution date of Jan. 21, 2016, for 39-year-old Kareem Jackson.

Jackson was convicted of two counts of aggravated murder and other charges in the murders of Antorio Hunter and Terrance Walker in a Columbus apartment.

After Jackson and his friends stole $100 in cash and marijuana from the men, prosecutors say Jackson shot both of them in the back of the head as they begged for their lives.

Prosecutors had asked that Jackson be executed by the end of the year, arguing that justice is long overdue and his appeals have been exhausted.
