US Census: Michigan's 2013 population 9.9 million, up 13,000 from 2012; still 9th in nation

LANSING — The U.S. Census says Michigan’s population rose in the past year.

The bureau said Monday Michigan had about 9.9 million people July 1. It says the estimated population rose 13,103 from the year before, an increase of one-tenth of a percent. The Census Bureau’s exact estimate of Michigan’s population for July, 2013, is 9,895,622. That compares with 9,882,519 a year earlier.

The population also rose from 2011 to 2012.
