CINCINNATI — Ohio police officers will be going on their own blitz during Super Bowl weekend.

Agencies throughout the state began stepping up patrols Thursday and will continue until Tuesday.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office in southwestern Ohio says the enforcement blitz will target drivers who are speeding, drinking or not wearing seat belts.

Cincinnati police offered tips to those who’ll be celebrating on Super Bowl Sunday. They say those who will be in someone else’s home or at a sports bar should designate a sober driver ahead of time or arrange for a cab or a pick-up by a relative.

They suggest those hosting a Super Bowl party could stop serving alcohol at the end of the third quarter and offer coffee and dessert. They should also keep cab numbers handy.
