SANDUSKY, Ohio — Cedar Point is throwing a party this weekend to celebrate the anniversary of its oldest roller coaster.

The Blue Streak has been thrilling riders for 50 years at the amusement park in Sandusky.

The wooden coaster built by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company gave its first rides in 1964.

Cedar Point will be giving out cake and T-shirts at the park today to mark the occasion. They’ve also invited back Blue Streak operators from years past.

The coaster named after the Sandusky High School Blue Streaks has a drop of nearly 80 feet and reaches speeds of 40 miles per hour.
