SANDUSKY — Two people have been hurt in an accident involving a ride at Cedar Point amusement park in northwest Ohio.

News outlets and the park say one person went to a hospital for evaluation late Saturday while the other was treated at the scene. The park indicates that a cable disconnected from the Skyhawk ride at about 10 p.m.

It wasn’t clear whether the injured people were riding Skyhawk or were on the ground when hurt. Skyhawk has two giant arms that swing riders up to 125 feet at speeds of up to 60 mph.

Park spokesman Bryan Edwards said that Skyhawk will remain closed until investigation into the cause of the accident is completed.

Cedar Point in Sandusky is the flagship park of Cedar Fair Entertainment Co.
