MASON, Ohio — A southwest Ohio amusement park has raised $186,000 for cancer research and support groups after events including a mass head-shaving and a soccer ball kick fundraiser.

Kings Island on Sunday presented checks of $62,000 each to the Pink Ribbon Girls, The Dragonfly Foundation and Melanoma Know More. The money was raised over the past month in the park’s Kicks Cancer campaign.

The park laid claim to possible world records for most people getting their heads shaved at the same time, most applying sunscreen, and most applying lipstick. The records are subject to verification by Guinness World Records.

For $5, park visitors could kick a soccer ball into a fountain for the chance to win a new car. The park said visitors bought nearly 22,000 kicks.
