CINCINNATI — Authorities say a Hamilton County sheriff’s deputy was injured while he was on patrol in southwest Ohio.

The sheriff says Deputy Andrew Helsinger was driving Sunday morning on Mt. Carmel Road in Anderson Township, when the driver’s door of his police cruiser was hit by a Jeep Wrangler heading north. The sheriff says the Jeep had crossed the double yellow lines.

The fire department was called to help remove Helsinger from the cruiser. He was taken to a hospital. The sheriff’s office says his injuries were not life threatening and he was listed in good condition.

Authorities say a 26-year-old Batavia woman was driving the Jeep. Her 25-year-old passenger was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The sheriff’s office suspects alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident.
