BEAVERCREEK, Ohio — Fire officials say an explosion and fire destroyed a house in southwestern Ohio. No injuries were reported.

Battalion Chief Nathan Hiester with the Beavercreek Township Fire Department says several residents in Beavercreek and Xenia called 911 after hearing the explosion between 6 and 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

Fire officials say the cause was not immediately known and remains under investigation.

The Dayton Daily News and WHIO-TV report that the house was already destroyed and burning when crews arrived. He says it took about an hour and a half to get the fire under control.

Hiester says the people who lived in the rented house were away on vacation and have been notified.
