General manager of Flint, Mich., station takes helm at WTVG-TV

Peter Veto, general manager of WJRT-TV in Flint, Mich., has become the new general manager of WTVG-TV, Channel 13, in Toledo, replacing John Christianson.

Mr. Christianson was promoted to executive vice president of Lilly Broadcasting’s Eastern Division and general manager of its One Caribbean Television. WTVG and WJRT are owned by SJL Broadcasting, which is closely aligned with Lilly Broadcasting.

Mr. Veto, who became general manager at WTVG on Dec. 18, had been director of sales and national sales manager the last three years for both WTVG and WJRT. He started in the industry at Viacom before becoming general manager at WENY in Elmira, N.Y.

In a statement, Mr. Veto said, “I’m excited to expand my role with SJL Broadcasting and build upon what I’ve already instilled in both markets from a sales standpoint. This gives me an opportunity to be more involved on a local level with the community.”

SJL Broadcasting owns and operates WJRT, WTVG, and WICU in Erie, Pa. Lilly Broadcasting operates WENY, WSEE in Erie, and One Caribbean Television. SJL purchased WJRT and WTVG from ABC in April, 2011.

Lilly Broadcasting, founded in 2000 and headquartered in Natick, Mass., is owned by George Lilly and his son, Brian. It is under the control of Brian Lilly.

SJL was founded in 1984 and headquartered in Montecito, Calif. It is run by George Lilly.
