Toledo native Katie Holmes will star in a pilot for ABC, according to online sources including TV Line and E! News.

In the Richard LaGravenese (Behind the Candelabra) drama, the 35-year-old actress plays the high-society Ann, who runs a philanthropic foundation in modern-day New York with her husband. She becomes the target of a bet between Philip (Rufus Sewell) and Margot (yet to be cast) to destroy her marriage, a premise that has been compared to the film Dangerous Liaisons.

Taylor Hackford will direct the pilot.

If the untitled project becomes a series, it would mark Holmes’ first full-time TV role since playing Joey Potter in the teen hit Dawson’s Creek. That series ran from 1998 until 2003.

Her television appearances since then have included a guest spot on How I Met Your Mother and the role of Jaqueline Kennedy in The Kennedys, ReelzChannel’s miniseries. She also has appeared in films and on Broadway.
