KENT, Ohio — Five players scored in double figures — none of them standout Inma Zanoguera — in the University of Toledo women’s 83-55 win Sunday at Kent State.

The Rockets (11-11, 6-5) were led by Janelle Reed-Lewis’ 16 points — which matched her season high — and a career-high 15 by freshman Elena Alfredo. Alfredo and Ana Capotosto (11 points) each made three 3-pointers. Brianna Jones and Andola Dortch added 10 points a piece, and Zanoguera had nine in 21 minutes.

Toledo now sits alone in second place of the Mid-American Conference West division, one game ahead of Ball State and Western Michigan, and five games behind leader Central Michigan.

For the second straight game, Toledo shot well from deep, hitting on 8 of 16 3s for a two-game total of 19 of 42. The Rockets were 4 of 41 in the two games prior.

In securing its second straight road win, Toledo shot 47 percent (26 of 55) from the field and 85 percent (23 of 27) from the free-throw line. The Rockets outrebounded Kent (4-18, 1-10) 40 to 26 and corralled 12 offensive boards.

The Flashes got 19 points from CiCi Shannon and 16 from Ashley Evans.
