The University of Toledo football team will play at Notre Dame in 2021, UT vice president and athletic director Mike O’Brien said Monday.

The game will be played on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at Notre Dame Stadium. The contest will mark the first football game between the two schools.

“We are very pleased and excited to add Notre Dame to our 2021 football schedule,” O’Brien said. “Notre Dame has one of the greatest college football traditions in the country, so it definitely will be a matchup our football team will be looking forward to. The game also has the added benefit of only being just a two-and-a-half hour drive from Toledo, so I know many of our fans will travel to South Bend for the contest.”

Toledo will be just the fourth school currently in the Mid-American Conference to play Notre Dame in football, and just the second in the last 96 years. The others are Miami (1909), Akron (1910), and Western Michigan (1919, 1920, and 2010).

HESTER HONORED: Toledo senior defensive tackle Treyvon Hester was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Toledo’s 52-17 victory over Fresno State on Saturday.

Hester recorded two quarterback sacks and five tackles.

GOLF: The Toledo men's golf team sits in eighth place after the first day of the Inverness Intercollegiate at Inverness Club.

The Rockets finished the first two rounds with a score of 590 (22-over par).

Thomas Thurloway shot an even-par 71 on the opening 18 holes to lead Toledo, then shot a 72 in the second round. Stephen Watts shot a 71 to lead the Rockets in Round 2.

Bowling Green sits in sixth place with a score of 587 (+19). Max Rispler shot 69 and 71 to lead the Falcons.

Duke leads the tournament with a score of 558 (-10), with Auburn in second at 561 (-7).

The 54-hole tournament will conclude today.
