Walleye continue long road trip
11/15/2013The Walleye will play a fifth consecutive road game today. Seven of Toledo's first 10 games of the season have been away from home.
The Walleye travel to Fort Wayne to take on the Komets. Faceoff is at 8:05 p.m. Toledo defeated Fort Wayne 4-3 in the season opener on Oct. 19.
Toledo has gotten off to a 4-5-1 start and sits in third place in the ECHL North Division with nine points.
The Walleye are 2-1-0 at home and return to the Huntington Center on Sunday for a 5:15 game against Reading. Toledo is 2-4-1 on the road and has lost two straight.
The seven games away from home are tied with Greenville for the second most road games played by any ECHL team. San Francisco leads the league with nine road games.
On Thursday, defenseman Joe Gleason was assigned to the team from Rockford of the American Hockey League.
Gleason, a rookie from Edina, Minn., has appeared in seven games with Grand Rapids this season. He has one assist and two penalty minutes. Gleason was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the seventh round of the 2008 NHL Draft.
The 23-year-old played four years at the University of North Dakota. In 143 college games, Gleason scored six goals with 40 assists and 82 penalty minutes.
