Walleye fall 5-4 in extra session

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Toledo Wall­eye over­came a three-goal def­i­cit to force over­time, but fell in the ex­tra session to host Fort Wayne in a 5-4 loss.

Mike Vaskivuo scored 1:09 into over­time for the Komets (4-4-2) to com­plete a three-point night for the for­ward.

Toledo trailed 3-0 in the sec­ond be­fore ral­ly­ing with two in the pe­riod from Daniel Koger with his first goal in a Wall­eye uni­form along with Trevor Parkes sev­enth goal of the sea­son.

Marek Tvr­don’s four of the sea­son tied the game at 3-all 26 sec­onds into the third pe­riod, but Fort Wayne snatched the lead back about three min­utes later.

Kyle Rogers evened the game again with 57 sec­onds left to force over­time.

Rookie goal­ten­der Jared Coreau finished with 37 saves, fall­ing to 0-2-2 in his Wall­eye ca­reer. He did reg­is­ter his first as­sist for Toledo off Koger’s marker.
