2 Walleye called-up to AHL
1/16/2014The Walleye lost two players, including a veteran goaltender, to call ups Wednesday to the American Hockey League.
Goaltender Hannu Toivonen signed a professional tryout contract with the Milwaukee Admirals while forward Louis-Marc Aubry was reassigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Toivonen, a native of Finland, signed with the Walleye Nov. 26. The 2002 first-round draft choice of the Boston Bruins played in 61 NHL games from 2005-08.
Toivonen has won his last three starts with the Walleye. He has posted a 7-8-0 record with a 3.66 goals-against average. He was runner up for ECHL goaltender of the week after going 2-0-0 with a 1.50 GAA last weekend.
Aubry is on a six-game point streak in which he has four goals and five assists. He has tallied 14 points (7 goals, 7 assists) in 18 games. Aubry, who was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 2010, has appeared in 130 games with the Griffins.
The Walleye play Friday and Saturday at Reading. Goalie Mac Carruth, who has a 4-5-0 record with a 2.84 GAA, is expected to be in net against the Royals.
