Reading powers past Walleye

READING, Pa. — A pair of two-goal periods pushed the defending ECHL champions Reading to a 5-2 win at home against the Walleye on Friday.

The Royals’ T.J. Syner lit up Toledo with two goals and two assists.

Aaron Clarke had a goal and assisted on Daniel Koger’s power-play goal in the loss. Mac Carruth made 28 saves.

The team released defenseman Phil Oreskovic before the game.

Walleye coach Nick Vitucci said Oreskovic is returning to his hometown in North York, Ont. He will play for the Brampton Beast of the Central Hockey League.
