Walleye announce Winterfest opponents
1/23/2014The ECHL announced Wednesday that the Toledo Walleye will face Kalamazoo and Fort Wayne in a pair of outdoor games next season at Fifth Third Field.
The Walleye will play in the first two outdoor games in ECHL history, and both games will be part of the Walleye’s Winterfest presented by ProMedica. It will be a 10-day outdoor celebration in downtown Toledo from Dec. 26 through Jan. 4, 2015.
The Walleye will face Kalamazoo in the first game on Dec. 27, then Fort Wayne on Jan. 3, 2015.
Fifth Third Field will be converted into an outdoor rink. It will also host an alumni game between former Toledo IHL and ECHL players and former Fort Wayne players on Jan. 3 prior to the regular-season game.
