GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Walleye's losing streak extended to a season-high five games Monday as Toledo was crushed 6-1 by Greenville.

The Road Warriors scored three goals in the first period and cruised to the win during an afternoon game.

The Walleye (16-29-3) fell to 7-17-3 on the road.

Richard Nedomlel scored Toledo’s lone goal at 16:56 of the third period. Nedomlel scored his seventh goal of the season on assists from Travis Novak and Bobby Shea.

Toledo starting goaltender Mac Carruth was replaced by Jared Coreau in the second period after giving up four goals. Carruth made 11 saves on 15 shots. Coreau then finished with 21 saves on 23 shots after entering the game.

The Walleye held a 14-11 shot advantage in the first period but the Road Warriors still took a 3-0 lead. Greenville scored a shorthanded goal to open up the scoring.

“Special teams were huge in this game with our strong power play unit against the best penalty kill in the ECHL,” Walleye coach Nick Vitucci said. “An early shorthanded goal against set the tone for the game. They can strike quickly with loads of offense and Greenville did that to us today.”

Greenville kept the scoring going in the second period with a power-play goal at 2:45. Toledo finished with a 41-38 edge in shots on goal.
