Youth tourney to take place during Walleye Winterfest

The Toledo Walleye and Playmaker Sports USA have teamed up for the inaugural Walleye Winterfest Youth Hockey Tournament. The four-day premier Tier II tournament takes place Jan. 1-4 during the Walleye Winterfest.

"Playmaker Sports USA is thrilled to be involved in the inaugural Walleye Winterfest Youth Hockey Tournament," Dave Austin of Playmaker Sports said. "It's going to be a tremendous event that brings together great young athletes and showcases the hockey community in Toledo."

The tournament is limited to 36 Squirt, Pee Wee, and Bantam teams.

Each team plays in four games, including one game at the Huntington Center. The teams making it to the championship round get to play on the outdoor rink at Fifth Third Field during the week.

Participating tournament teams have the opportunity to purchase Winterfest hockey game tickets, including Walleye vs. Kalamazoo, Walleye vs. Ft. Wayne, BGSU vs. Robert Morris, and Adrian vs. U.S. National U-18 Team.
