At the Attic on Adams, a charming bar located in Uptown Toledo, customer service is the name of the game.
Perhaps the clearest proof of this is the “Danhattan,” a twist on the classic Manhattan concocted by bartender Dan Phillips for a regular patron of the Attic. (Disclosure: That patron is a co-author on this piece, Phillip Kaplan.)

Using blasts of orange flavors, including Orange Tiger from Toledo Spirits, to accentuate the sweet profile of Maker’s Mark Whisky, Phillips’ twist on the Manhattan has a friendly, comforting taste that leaves a velvety mouthfeel.
The other ingredients for the “Danhattan” include Dolin Rouge Sweet Vermouth, Paolo Lazzaroni & Figli Maraschino Liqueur, flamed orange zest, and Angostura bitters — both aromatic and orange. All of these components play a part, providing the foundation for that classic Manhattan taste with a special splash of originality thrown in.
The end result is a delightful cocktail, initially made for one man and now to be enjoyed by the masses.
