    • Sweet Shalom pie contest

Fall is the perfect time for both tea and pie. So at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 7, Sweet Shalom Tea Room, 8216 Erie St. in Sylvania, will combine these two favorites at its annual pie contest.

Contestants are encouraged to enter their favorite fall dessert pies, and a team of judges and guests at that afternoon’s tea will taste all the treats to find their favorites. Entrants must attend the tea and be present for the presentation of prizes.

The judges’ first prize winner will be awarded a vintage-inspired apron and a $25 gift voucher; second place will win a ceramic pie plate and a $20 gift voucher; and third place will receive a vintage silver pie server and a $15 gift voucher. The people’s choice winner will get an award certificate suitable for framing along with a $10 gift voucher.

For more information, to make reservations or to register as a contestant, call Sara Velasquez at 419-297-9919.
