Tickets for ‘Jersey Boys’ go on sale Monday

Individual tickets go on sale Monday for Jersey Boys, the award-winning musical coming to the Stranahan Theater Jan. 10-15 as part of the Theater League’s Broadway in Toledo Series.
The show tells the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, blue-collar guys on their way to pop music stardom, selling 175 million records worldwide before they were 30. The musical features all of their hits, including “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Oh What A Night,” “Walk Like A Man,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” and “Working My Way Back To You.”
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 10, 11, and 12, 8 p.m. Jan 13, 2 and 8 p.m. Jan. 14, and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15.
Tickets will be available Monday from BroadwayinToledo.com, the Stranahan Theater box office, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd., which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, and by calling 419-381-8851. Groups of 15 or more should call 1-866-314-7687.

‘Filled with regret’
NEW YORK — Geraldo Rivera says he’s “filled with regret” for initially discounting the sexual harassment allegations against his former Fox News Channel boss, Roger Ailes, and is apologizing for his skepticism.
In a lengthy post to his Facebook page Thursday night, Rivera said Ailes is a “deceitful, selfish misogynist” if the charges against him are true. Ailes has denied them, but Fox News parent 21st Century Fox settled a lawsuit this week with first accuser Gretchen Carlson, paying her $20 million and publicly apologizing. Other women also have accused the deposed Fox News boss of harassment.
Rivera tweeted in the wake of Carlson’s lawsuit this summer that “I stand with Roger Ailes” and encouraged others not to believe the charges against him.
Rivera worked for Ailes for more than 20 years at CNBC and Fox News, and wrote that his personal and professional loyalty compelled him to jump to Ailes’ defense.
“I apologize for my skepticism,” Rivera wrote. “Like victims of sexual assault, those alleging harassment deserve the presumption of credibility.”
Through a spokesman, Carlson had no comment on Friday.
Standing out
ATLANTIC CITY — Michigan and Ohio loom large in the presidential election, but they also brought some swing-state magic to the Miss America pageant Thursday night in Atlantic City.
Miss Michigan Arianna Quan and Miss Ohio Alice Magoto won preliminary contests on the third and final night of preliminary competition.
Quan played a piano composition titled “The Lark,” and Magoto won the swimsuit competition.
The competition at Boardwalk Hall includes contestants from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
The 2017 Miss America will be crowned Sunday night.
Deathstroke cast
LOS ANGELES — Joe Manganiello is sharpening his swords to take on Ben Affleck’s Batman as the supervillain Deathstroke. The Magic Mike and True Blood vet will appear in Affleck’s stand-alone Batman film as the DC Comics character.
DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns confirmed the casting to the Wall Street Journal in an article published Thursday. Manganiello then tweeted “it’s on.”
Affleck last month teased test footage of Deathstroke on Twitter, leading to flurry of speculation online about when and where Batman might duel the famed villain.
Johns, who is co-writing Batman with Affleck, declined to comment on whether Deathstroke would appear in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which is in production.
Affleck’s Batman reboot does not have a release date.
