The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority once again will waive fares Election Day to encourage voters to ride buses to the polls.

The free-ride day Tuesday applies to all TARTA services, including the Toledo Area Regional Paratransit Service and suburban Call-A-Ride routes. TARPS passengers should make Election Day reservations by 6 p.m. Monday for their trips, the transit authority said.

“TARTA has been providing free rides to and from the polls on both primary and general-election days for several years,” said James Gee, the authority’s general manager. “TARTA firmly believes in anything it can do to help improve voter turnout and get people to the polls is a positive service to our community.”

Free rides are not limited, however, to voting trips. They apply to all bus travel in Toledo from the day’s first trips, starting at 5:30 a.m., to the end of the last bus run at 11 p.m.
