Automatic Handling International Inc. has announced that it will add a 20,000-square-foot addition to its Bedford Township facility this year.

Automatic Handling designs and builds handling and packaging systems. It has more than 130 employees and plans to add additional engineers, fabricators, and machinists, although the exact number hasn’t been determined.

Company president Dan Pienta said the additional space will be used for system assembly and testing and will “greatly expand our ability to sell and deliver systems that we previously were unable to supply.”

The company, which was founded in 1972, built a similar addition in 2012. It has about 140,000 square feet of manufacturing and assembly space.

The cost of the addition was not disclosed.
