  • Spending at Ohio’s four state-authorized casinos was a mixed bag in July with revenues at two casino locations, including Hollywood Casino Toledo, dropping and revenues at the remaining two other gambling houses rising.

Combined, statewide revenues for July essentially ended up flat, according to the Ohio Casino Control Commission, which released its monthly report on Tuesday.

The commission, which tracks gambling income, recorded a 2 percent drop in revenues at the Toledo casino, which is owned by Penn National Gaming. The local casino took in $17.2 million last month.

The Jack Cleveland Casino, owned by Jack Entertainment, recorded a 5 percent drop at just under $16 million.

Meanwhile, revenues increased 4 percent at Penn National’s other location, Hollywood Casino Columbus, which took in $19.4 million. They were up 3 percent at Jack’s second location, the Jack Cincinnati Casino, which had revenues of $17.1 million.

The statewide totals were $69.7 million, down 0.2 percent, according to the report. All figures include only revenue from gambling and exclude income from food, drink, merchandise, and event ticket sales.

Through the first seven months, revenue at the Toledo casino totals $119.9 million, up about 2 percent from $117.8 million a year ago.

Seven-month totals were $134.3 million at Columbus, up 3 percent; $117.8 million at Cincinnati, no change, and $118.1 million at Cleveland, up 1.5 percent. Statewide totals through July were $490.1 million, up about 2 percent.

Separately, the Ohio Lottery Commission reported gambling revenues from the state's seven racinos, which pair slots and video gambling with horse racing, were $84.5 million in June. That was a 5.5 percent increase from 2017 revenues of $80.1 million.
