Columbia Gas increases April rate to 53 cents

Columbia Gas of Ohio Inc. will charge customers 53 cents per hundred cubic feet of natural gas in April. The rate is based on the New York Mercantile Exchange’s closing price of 40 cents per hundred cubic feet plus 13 cents for a state-approved service fee.

A year ago, the gas utility’s rate for April was 37 cents per hundred cubic feet, and its March rate is 50 cents. Columbia Gas said that with the new rate, the average residential bill for April will be $73.25.
