1 killed, 3 hurt in crash outside of Castalia

CASTALIA, Ohio — A Bellevue, Ohio, man was killed and three other people were seriously injured Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash four miles south of Castalia, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

One of the drivers, Bradley Burgess, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene. His front-seat passenger, Elisha Miano, 16, also of Bellevue, was listed in critical condition yesterday at Toledo Hospital. A second passenger, Melissa Leiby, 18, of Bellevue, was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, where hospital officials said she was not listed as a patient.

The second driver, Keith Breighner, 59, of Republic, Ohio, was taken from Bellevue Hospital to Medical College of Ohio Hospitals, Toledo, where no information was available about his condition.

Troopers in Sandusky said the accident occurred at 7:40 p.m. on State Rt. 269 at Portland Road in Erie County's Groton Township. Mr. Burgess was southbound on State Rt. 269 when his car was struck by Mr. Breighner's sport utility vehicle, which was westbound on Portland Road. Authorities said Mr. Breighner did not stop at a stop sign.
