2 children hurt by vehicles in separate B.G. accidents

BOWLING GREEN - Two children were struck by vehicles last night within minutes of one another, police said.

Both children were being treated last night at Wood County Hospital. Their injuries were believed to be not life-threatening, Lt. Ken Fortney said.

Alexia Sheeks, 8, was riding a bicycle into the street in the 1100 block of Raven Road, off Haskins Road, about 6:30 p.m. when she was struck by a pickup truck driven by Todd Jeffries, 26, of Bowling Green, Lieutenant Fortney said.

Minutes later, Haiden Coppler, 3, was hit near 2 Springhill Drive, off West Gypsy Lane, by a vehicle driven by Jeff Ward, 23 of Curtice.

The child was playing out of sight,and Mr. Ward backed into him, the lieutenant said.

Neither driver was cited.
