North Toledo home is burglarized 3rd time in a month

An elderly woman who was hurt when her North Toledo house was burglarized earlier this month has suffered a third burglary in a month, authorities said.

Anna Slandzicki, 88, was not hurt when someone broke a window in her house in the 3300 block of Mulberry St. and stole her purse early Thursday, according to Toledo police.

On May 17, Ms. Slandzicki was awakened by a noise in her basement and went to the basement to investigate. When she confronted the intruder, she struck him with a phone. The man then punched her on the face, took her car keys, and tried to steal her car, but fled on foot when the car's alarm went off.

Ms. Slandzicki, a retired seamstress, described her attacker as a light-complexioned black male, 5 feet, 4 inches tall or shorter, and wearing a white T-shirt and a dark hooded sweatshirt.

On April 30, she reported to police that someone stole $21 and her wallet from her home overnight. Entry apparently was gained through a rear window, police said.

There have been no arrests in any of those cases.

Ms. Slandzicki lives near the home of Kenneth and Frances Fox. Mrs. Fox, who was 88, was slain and her husband, 74, was critically injured in their home by an intruder this month.
