Lucas, Fulton residents are fined for burning

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has levied $1,250 in civil penalties on Lucas and Fulton county residents for illegal open burning incidents last year.

Robert Schiekh of Raymill Road in Springfield Township was fined $750 for burning trash and demolition waste July, 5, 6, and 28.

Ron Smith of Liberty Center received a $250 penalty for open burning of trash Oct. 22 on Kellogg Road near Tontogany in Wood County.

The debris included mattresses, a bathroom sink, insulation, tires, and rubber-coated metal bars.

Randy Wise, who lives near Wauseon, was fined $250 for burning 20 to 30 tires and landscape waste Nov. 5 on his property on County Road 12.
