Two men have been charged with theft after being accused of stealing money from St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sylvania, authorities said.

Sally Oberski, spokesman for the Catholic Diocese of Toledo, said two men were fired as maintenance workers for the diocese March 2 after the officials established that funds were missing and conducted an internal investigation, which involved a hidden camera.

The diocese first suspected that funds were missing in January, Ms. Oberski said.

The suspects' names and further details were not available yesterday.
