The 25th Annual Interfaith Blood Drive that had been scheduled for June 23 and 24 has been postponed indefinitely because of the Red Cross workers' strike.

Devorah Shulamit, founder and chairman of the blood drive that is supported by multiple local religious groups and individuals, said the event "has been caught in the middle of a very sad and unfortunate position due to the strike."

About 130 employees of the Red Cross office in Toledo who are represented by United Food and Commercial Workers Local 75 have been on strike since March 27 after about four years without a contract.

Both the June 23-24 blood drive and a June 24 Celebration of Life reception had been scheduled at Grace Lutheran Church, 4441 Monroe St., and the events will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
