Two-way traffic is expected to be restored Friday on a stretch of Monroe Street that has been restricted for two months for a repaving project.

Kevin Aller, Sylvania’s service director, said the resurfacing project between Erie Street and Silica Drive is ahead of schedule. Work crews also relocated about 800 feet of a water main from beneath the street to beneath the sidewalk to simplify future pipe maintenance, and added lawn and sidewalk to an area next to the Maplewood Elementary School.

A rebuilt bridge on Erie near Little Farms Court reopened last week, but work continues to finish shoulders and side slopes.
