SANDUSKY — Authorities are investigating the death on Wednesday of an 85-year-old Sandusky man who was hit by a car on Bogart Road in Erie County the day before, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Edward Bikulcius was pronounced dead at Firelands Regional Medical Center, according to the patrol’s Sandusky post.

Mr. Bikulcius was walking south across Bogart, in the eastbound lane, west of Columbus Avenue about 7:20 p.m. Tuesday when he was struck by a car driven by Steven Dickman, 61, of Monroeville, Ohio, who was traveling east on Bogart, troopers said.

Mr. Dickman and his wife, Louise Dickman, who was his passenger, were not hurt, the patrol said. Both were wearing seat belts, troopers said.

The crash remained under investigation.
