Drug charges have been dismissed against a Toledo woman accused of giving contraband to a former corrections officer at the Lucas County jail to deliver to an inmate.

Ian English, an assistant county prosecutor, on Wednesday asked Common Pleas Judge Gene Zmuda to dismiss charges of aggravated trafficking in drugs, trafficking in marijuana, and illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility against Salina Perez, 29.

Ms. Perez along with Jesse Perez, 33, and Michelle Vining, 33, had been indicted on the charges in August.

Ms. Vining, who resigned her position as a corrections officer, pleaded guilty to two counts of dereliction of duty for taking tobacco into the jail and giving it to Jesse Perez.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service.

Mr. English declined to comment on why charges were dismissed against Ms. Perez.
