Pickup, tractor-trailer crash closes Route 53

FREMONT — Authorities investigated an injury crash that closed State Rt. 53 south of Fremont in both directions for about three hours on Friday.

The victim was flown to an area hospital, troopers at the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Sandusky post said. The name and condition were not disclosed.

A tractor-trailer and a pickup collided about 10:20 a.m. on southbound Route 53 near Gillmore Road in Ballville Township, troopers said.

Traffic on Route 53 returned to normal about 2 p.m., troopers said.
