Bond was set at $2 million Thursday for a South Toledo man charged with fatally stabbing his mother in the home they shared.

Anthony Bertolina, 34, of 3158 Winston Blvd. entered not guilty pleas in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to charges of aggravated murder and murder in the Dec. 9 death of his mother, Mary Bertolina, 56.

In setting his bond, Judge Ruth Ann Franks noted that Mr. Bertolina admitted to having a heroin addiction and had been out of jail on bond at the time the new offenses allegedly happened.

Mr. Bertolina asked the court to appoint an attorney for him. Judge Franks appointed Gretchen DeBacker to represent him.
