Michigan funds 6 road projects in Monroe Co.

A $115 million statewide package of road improvements in Michigan includes nearly $11 million for six projects in Monroe County, the state Department of Transportation has announced.

The appropriations represent half of a onetime, $230 million general-fund outlay approved in Michigan’s fiscal-2014 budget by the state Legislature. The Monroe County projects include:

● $3.5 million to patch concrete pavement on I-75 from the Ohio border to I-275;

● $5 million to improve Samaria Road in Bedford Township;

● $330,000 to improve Wabash Road from Cone Road to the Milan city limits, and $450,000 for bridge work on Wabash at North Macon Creek;

● $280,000 to erect traffic signals at Vivian and Cole roads in Frenchtown Township;

● $1,420,000 to improve Tuttle-Hill Road from Ostrander and Oakville roads in London Township.

Also included in the Michigan Department of Transportation package is a $1.26 million resurfacing project on M-52 between Valley Road and M-50 in Lenawee County.
