Part of Monclova Township was placed under a boil-water advisory Monday because of emergency water-main repairs, the Lucas County Sanitary Engineer's Office announced.

Water customers along Byrnwyck West Road between Plumbrook and Mill Ridge roads, including Embassy Estates, should boil water intended for drinking or cooking for at least one minute.

Water service in that area was to be shut off temporarily for installation of a valve to isolate the pipe repair so the work would have minimal impact on 100 nearby water customers, officials said.

The boil-water advisory is precautionary against any contamination entering the water system during the repairs and will remain in effect until Wednesday afternoon, with further notice to be provided.
