A Maumee man assaulted in the Lucas County jail after his arrest on a robbery offense was placed on community control for four years Thursday.

Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Dean Mandros also ordered that Austin Johnson, 19, of 6122 Suffolk Lane serve 90 days at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio near Stryker, followed by 90 days in the Lucas County Work Release Program.

Johnson pleaded guilty last month to carrying a concealed weapon, theft, and attempt to commit escape for an Oct. 12 holdup at Tim Hortons restaurant in Holland and for fleeing authorities.

The inmate who allegedly assaulted Johnson, Archie Fobbs II, has been charged with felonious assault and is scheduled for a Feb. 18 competency hearing.
