The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement early this morning warning drivers and pedestrians about slippery roads and sidewalks in counties including Lucas, Wood, and Ottawa.

A cold front was moving across the region and as the rain changed to snow and the temperature fell below freezing, untreated roads and sidewalks were becoming slippery, the weather service reported about 1:15 a.m.

The weather service also urged drivers to watch for flooded roads. The statement included Hancock, Seneca, Sandusky, Erie, and Huron counties as well as counties across far northeastern Ohio and into Pennsylvania.
