Boater sentenced in passenge death

An Oregon boater pleaded no contest Tuesday in Toledo Municipal Court to reckless/​unsafe vessel operation in connection with a July 11 incident in which a passenger fell out of his boat and drowned.

Todd M. Pryll, 46, of 3341 Seaman Rd. was then found guilty of the fourth-degree misdemeanor and sentenced by Judge Joshua Lanzinger to one year probation. He also was ordered to finish a boater-education course and pay a $50 fine and court costs.

Ricky Lopez, 49, of East Toledo was sitting on the back of the boat while Mr. Pryll operated it on the Maumee River near Cullen Park.
