Man faces arraignment in attack that led to death

A man jailed in an assault last weekend is to be arraigned today in Toledo Mun-icipal Court on a murder charge.

Jerome De-vone Carter, 26, of 2520 Monroe St. is believed to be one of two men who attacked Jeffrey Miller-Lee, 27, of Toledo. His alleged accomplice remains at large.

Mr. Miller-Lee died at 1:14 p.m. Tuesday at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, police said. An autopsy is set for today.

Mr. Carter remained in the Lucas County jail Tuesday in lieu of $500,000 bond from a felonious-assault charge that prosecutors plan to upgrade to murder at the hearing.

Police believe Mr. Miller-Lee’s two assailants punched him and kicked him at 417 Cumberland Pl. at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, according to court documents. Those documents state Mr. Carter “threw” Mr. Miller-Lee about 8 feet, causing critical injuries when he landed on the sidewalk.
